Fifteen people were killed when a bus plowed into the crowd of Canival revelers. The accident occurred in the town of Huancane about 200 miles south of La Paz. This Carnival is considered the greatest street celebrations in Latin America. It is reported the bus driver fled the scene.

On a notoriously dangerous stretch of road in the Andean foothills a missing Canadian tourist is being search for by the Bolivian Police. Simon Mathew Boily, 23, planned to bicycle down the narrow unpaved road known as the "Highway of Death" and failed to show up for his flight home.

An ammonia leak on the ship Sea World 101 led to the deaths of two Vietnamese and four Koreans and poisoning of 24 others in Uruguay. Nguyen Van Hanh, 27, who was a crew member on the ship, died at the Uruguay National Centre for Burn Treatment six days after the accident occurred. Nguyen Van Toi, 23, died as the ship was anchoring at the Montevideo Port.

Sosa was riding his bicycle when he was hit so hard by a car going in the same direction he was thrown across the highway and landed at the foot of a lamp post.
