A serious plane crash occurred at the P.G.I.A. this morning. The twin engine Beechcraft had just been given clearance to land but as it was just about to touch down the landing gear failed to engage. The pilot appeared to try to take off again but the plane just plummeted into some bushes.

On Thursday night a bus with passengers traveling home from the Central Highlands to Quang Tri province collided with a train when it ran through the barrier. The bus driver and 12 passengers died instantly. Last year in Vietnam more than 12,000 people died in traffic accidents.

At about 3:45 p.m. on January 31, 33-year-old Edgar Royal was loading a truck near a silo filled with corn when it collapsed. Another worker tried to warn him, but Edgar was on his phone and didn't hear the warning. Workers and health professionals worked for more than nine hours to find Edgar.
