The unusual unfortified and possibly ceremonial structures were found on what is considered the edge of Chachapoya, known as the "Cloud Warriors", territory. Additional research is needed to confirm it is one of their sites, and of it is it will change the whole picture of how the region was when the Chachapoya flourished.

The history of this plain, rising from the Atlantic to the border of Chile, hosting the towering Andes peaks was first explored in 1516 by Juan Diaz de Solis. By the early 1600's the cattle industry was thriving. The first government was set up after Napolean conquered Spain in 1808 and formed their own government in 1810. Independence was officially declared in 1816.
