Chile activist group leader arrested

The long-sought leader of the Arauco-Malleco Association (CAM) Mapuche group, José Huenchunao Mariñán, has been captured by police. The indigenous rights activist, has been a fugitive from justice since August 2003, and faces a ten-year prison sentence for arson against forestry companies.

Does child sex abuse exist in Central America?

According to Casa Alianza, an organization which works with homeless children in several Central American countries, between 35,000 and 50,000 children are forced into prostitution in the region. It claims thatone of the driving forces behind the abuses is tourism.

Arrested after petitioning court to drop charges

After resurfacing and petitioning the Supreme Court to have his arrest warrants overturned, Satur Ocampo, of the left-leaning Bayan Muna (Nation First) political party, was in fact arrested. He is wanted for ordering the killing of 15 party members during a purge in the 1980s.
