Tsunami warning error

Topics:science
On January 19 an error occurred in an intranet system that resulted in an erroneous earthquake alert advisory being released. The advisory released around 11:00 AM about an earthquake/tsunami alert Level 2 with a magnitude of 7.0 that happened at 10:45 near northern Sumatra. It went on that tremors were likely to be felt as well as the possibility of a destructive tsunami, so people were advised to stay away from the beaches. This is the first time such an error has occurred and the Seismology Institute regrets any confusion. It came to light that there was an earthquake measuring 5.9 south of Java, but a technical glitch sent the old warning to everyone including the media. There should have been no tsunami warning.
